The classic Shakespeare tale of love, emotion, and betrayal all told with a modern twist. This movie is about love and powerful a story message based of the play but in this movie it's all in modern time which the movie fails on. The original words that Shakespeare used in his Original story are moving and breath taking but in this movie it just looks silly and stupid.

Despite the obvious ambition involved, a stylized Shakespeare tale transported to modern day, with Shakespearean language still intact, simply does not work. The film has some interesting visual cues, but, for the most part, seems silly and over-the-top.

"Romeo + Juliet" is a film retelling the greatest tragedy piece of William Shakespeare. Set in contemporary time, Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes brought back Romeo and Juliet and their best of its kind love story. This film wasn't really that solid to pull everyone into emotion, passion and love as much the original has done it- of course. I think, it struggled because of the entertainment value they want to give than just to focus on the oozing passion in it.DiCaprio did well, but Danes? I actually questioned her at first. I don't know if I should appreciate the use of the original dialogue, because it seemed distracting looking at the whole picture.

A wonderful love story full of ingenious plot devices as well as a brilliant new twist to one of the most amazing stories told by one of the greatest storytellers of all time.

This movie is visually very cool and beautiful. The film soundtrack is also suitable for this modern version of Romeo and Juliet.

I liked this updated Shakespeare. Set in modern times, but still using the Bard's words - this has a good cast, good setting and keeps the original, classic dialog. At times distracting, but overall it's a workable, enjoyable film.
