A by-the-book Hong Kong detective and a fast-talking loose canon L.A. cop team up to track down a kidnapper. this movie was not my cup of tea and that's it.

Extremely formulaic buddy movie in which Jackie Chan is as fun as always and Tucker is as annoying as always. A game of two halves, then.

The comic duo of Chan and Tucker wears thin quickly and is little more than some loosely strung together, recycled buddy comedy moments from other (better) films. The real refreshing star is Chan's knack for exciting action sequences and the film's bigger set pieces overshadow the attempts at instilling laughter.

Rush Hour is a great buddy movie. Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker have great chemistry together, which is crucial to a good buddy movie. The action is good and overall the movie is pretty funny.

There's nothing new in this straight-forward "buddy" cop film. However, what makes this work is that Tucker & Chan have great on-screen chemistry, no matter how bad some of the jokes turn out.
