Dancing is like cricket. Infinitely more fun to do than watch. This film is probably the template for the endlessly identical British comedies such as The Full Monty and Billy Elliot and as such, not my cup of tea.

This is a film about the lives of ambitiousless youths in New York City and the way they lives out their passions and cope with their problems. The observational style may frustrate some, but, similar to another nostalgic film - American Graffiti - Saturday Night Fever is more about the smaller moments, the camraderie between friends, and the trials of young love than it is about an overarching plot. John Travolta gives one of the most down-to-earth and best performances of his career and the soundtrack is pure gold.

John Travolta gives a solid peformance. The story is just not there. I know a lot of movie fans call this a classic and I respect there opionion, but I 100% disagree. This is far from a classic. Skip It.

I know that this movie came before Grease, but John Travolta and his friends play the exact same roles on both movies, and it was really predictable. Also I found that there was no one significant problem to be solved, but manyh smaller ones, whihc annoyed me, as it felt as if the movie had no direction. This movie may be famous, but other than a few stand-out scenes (such as Travolta's solo dance scene) I didn't find it all that spectacular. The incident with Bobby near the end of this film was under exaggerated. Thoguh it was a serious matter (he died!!) it was emotionless. So, I am not going to say this movie isn't any good, coz its great, it's just that I don't love it.
