From the writer of "Schindler's List" comes a heartwarming story about the truth and ferocity of growing up with talent. Explored in a way only done cinematically, "Searching for Bobby Fischer" attemtps to explain a great truth about a parent's love for their child, and the depth to which they will go in order to achieve their children's potential. At the expense of his child's happiness, Josh Waitzkin's father pushes him towards a love of baseball, but when his true talent lies in the game of chess, his father pushes him farther towards attaining tremendous platitudes, but never exposing pride or true parental love. Devotion, obsession, and skill are all relevant themes to this wonderful family filck.

A great movie, which teaches us more about life than about chess. Kingsley and Fishburne are great as Josh's chess coaches. Mac Pomeranc is a wonderful cast in the role of Waitzkin. Montegna and Allen are good as the parents. A film that deserves more attention than it receives. Seriously, you don't have to like chess to enjoy this movie!
