Sense and Sensibility review

There are certain films wherein despite a fantastic direction, soothing score, noteworthy location, Oscar worthy performances, lush costumes and a loveable screenplay, one distinct personality whose acting prowess just doesn't seem to fit and falters throughout the movie. Another noticeable thing was the pace, since it can be snail paced at times. Edward Ferrars (Hugh Grant) was just uninteresting from the get go. Elinor (Emma Thompson), Marianne (Kate Winslet) and Margaret (Emilie François) were solid, especially Thompson's portrayal and Colonel Brandon (Alan Rickman) was riveting. It's unfortunate a minor miscast can sway a critic's review, still Sense and Sensibility is a well-constructed drama though the humor was not that imminent and a certain actor that this reviewer …
