Creepy, shallow, and annoying characters in a movie that's just not that funny and grueling to watch. "Sixteen Candles" hasn't aged nearly as well as "The Breakfast Club."

Samantha "Sam" Baker is obsessed with Jake Ryan. Sam and Ted talk about her adoration. Jake makes a bet with Ted. It is considered one of the best high school films because of its themes of maturity and crushes. The only reservations this reviewer had were the depiction of the Asian exchange student and usage of underwear to earn money. A few scenes may have been too childish, nevertheless the amazing soundtrack and Ringwald's performance are highlights of the film. Sixteen Candles is a decent romantic comedy and is not at par with the rest of the director's films.

Still fun and hilarious today. One of John Hughes's best.
