I didn't completely love it, but I am glad I watched it. The love stories really don't capture the audience the way they should. They are all so fleeting and meaningless. The characters simply fall in love with the first person they meet and get engaged --though I suppose that's how it was in the 1800's anyway. The movie was long, and it had its moments of intensity and excitement; happiness and sadness, but as I said--they were really just moments. It begged to be another Gone With the Wind, but it just didn't quite rise to that level.

Some picturesque moments, good production values and decent battle scenes are not enough to sustain this bulky presentation with too many hollow moments and badly miscast stars. FInal Grade: C
