The best Western I've ever seen. Its got the mud, the dirt, the slurs, the drunkenness, the realism to the point where I feel like I am watching a historical documentary. A young trouble maker kills a man in a fight and is taken in by an elderly rancher and his gang of cattle hands. After a long standing fued turns deadly they find themselves hunted by a posse.

From the filmmaking, to the casting, and even the soundtrack, this feels like an authentic 80's film rather than a true western. 'Young Guns' is more of a showcase for the then young stars to strut their stuff and provide ample action. Though, that's not necessarily bad. It's still plenty enjoyable for those reasons. I just wish it had a little more to offer.

Yet another interchangeable and lame brat pack movie in which they swap high school for the old west. Cliched and trite, it's a bit like watching an extended 80s music video. Dumb.

The attention to detail with the costumes and set design is impressive. Supposedly, it follows the historical account closely of WHAT happened but the question of WHY it happened remains dubious. I sincerely doubt the protagonists were as noble as portrayed here but hey it's simply aiming to be a 'shoot-em-up' adventure with Emilio Estevez, Charlie Sheen, Lou Diamond Philips, and Kiefer Sutherland playing pistol-packing cowboys with the maturity of fratboys.
It mostly does a good job at that but the pacing and editing are both terrible. Characters come and go;there are too many of them as it …
