A kind of american version of Up Pompeii, this Roman comedy based on a musical is actually pretty funny. But with a cast including the likes of Zero Mostel and Phil Silvers, you can't really go wrong...

I love this movie (so does my boyfriend who hates musicals) the guy who wrote the songs Steven Sondheim is the same guy who wrote the songs for Sweeny Todd. Zero Mostel is simply a comedic god. Plus seeing the silent film legend Buster Keaton is always a treat. the lady of the house's make-up is actually accurate for the time. They wore lead based white make-up, which gave them lead poisoning, and bits of their faces would occasionally fall off. This make-up had a revival during Elizabethan times. There now you've learned something. Now watch the movie and see if you can learn something else. :-)
