Bleak film noir about an unhappily married businessman and amateur painter (Robinson) that becomes involved with a sultry seductress (Bennett) who is goaded by her con artist lover (Duryea) to steal credit for his art. The web of deception becomes more and more complicated for all three of them. All three leads are quite good. Robinson plays the part of a lovesick sap very well and Joan Bennett is excellent as his deceitful mistress.

I thought this movie was excellent. It had amazing plot twists. The only bad part of the movie was at the very end. But, the rest of the movie more than makes up for it.
