We all want something in this life, a burning desire for more or what we cannot have. Even someone who has everything still longs for more. Much like, in the movie “Wings of Desire”. Therefore it came as no surprise when the main character Damiel, an angel, longs to be human, in order to be with the mortal women he falls in love with. Though this movie sounds like it has great potential, do not be conned into thinking it’s something worth seeing. The story line is amusing, but overall it is two and a half hours of confusion and disappointment.

A beautiful film that uses visual imagery and symbolism to tell the story of an angel fallen from heaven. There are a lot of literary allusions, creative film-making devices, and dealings with spiritual themes. I would call it a film purely for a thinking audience, as the barebones plot and slow pace might be frustrating, but if you look deeper into the nuances of the film and take time to think about it, I think you will be more satisfied.

If you liked City of Angels, you probably won't like this movie, because this was the original film and was done well, unlike City of Angels. This film floats about leaving things unexplained that don't need explanation. Bruno Ganz is not in enough movies, or at least not in enough that get shown in America.

Marion, a trapeze artist is followed by an angel named Damiel. He decides to become human. The screenplay was excellent. This is shown from a few memorable quotes of the film: Marion - “To live…one look is enough.” ”These things happen; it’s just the way it is.” “Everything’s possible.” Lady – “One can only hope.” The angels - “Why am I here?” “Isn’t life under the sun just a dream?” “Let things happen.” The film drags a bit when Marion is being followed by Damiel, some scenes felt long which had nothing to do with the plot. It was also perplexing how the two fell in love so easily when they never went out when Damiel was in human form. The score and soundtrack was apposite. Its cinematography was stunning with the combination of two …
