Carrell makes this movie take-off. With Rudd and Rogan on his side, this has become my favorite Apatow movie. Funny and insane with a funny story and premise. Carrell is believable and hilarious. The waxing scene is actual footage of Carrell being waxed. He literally could not handle it, him storming off was real and unplanned. This is a must-see for all comedy fans.

Like a Virgin...,

Andy Stitzer (Steve Carell) is your typical dorky guy who rides a bicycle to work. He works at an electronics store, he collects things, he is always in good spirits, and overall he is a pretty average 40-year-old guy who has plenty of video games and a working knowledge of films and technology. One day at his job, Andy gets an offer from David (Paul Rudd) to come play poker with him and his buddies Jay (Romany Malco) and Cal (Seth Rogen) as a necessary fifth member. Andy is very excited about the offer and accepts but then his new friends discover he is still a virgin during a rather sex dialogue filled conversation.
From that point on, the guys, who are also all dealing with relationship issues of their own, become determined to initiate Andy to the world of dating and eventual …

Not real funny at all

"Andy" (Steve Carell) is pretty nerdy. He drives a bicycle to work every day, he watches "Survivor" with his neighbors every week and has a very impressive classic toy collection that fills every room of his apartment.
While at an after-work poker game, his co-workers/friends figure out that he's a virgin -- a 40-year old virgin. His friends then put themselves on a mission to get him some.
He then meets a wonderful woman, who he becomes strongly attracted to, but is afraid of taking it all the way with her.
There is absolutely very little to like about this film. Most of the jokes are just too over-the-top to be funny, while others produce a chuckle. Others are set up so you see the punchline coming from a mile away.
The plot is too predictable. You just knew that "Andy" …

You know how I know you're gay?

I'm a sucker for just about anything Steve Carrell is in these days. His comedy styles are awesome because he knows exactly how far over the top he can go before people would start getting turned away by it. The 40 year old Virgin is no exception. When I saw the scene with Andy playing poker with his friends Cal, Dave, and Jay and then sharing sex stories, I knew there would be a sense of frustration. You can tell when Andy makes up a story about having sex, and the others figure it out because Andy attempts to compare women's breasts to sand bags. Virgins, and those with little or no experience in the dating scene, have a hard time, because society seems to laugh at those who are left out.
One thing that I thought was a great approach in the movie that the majority of the dialog is …
