Pretty production design, gorgeous costumes, lovely leading lady. But a fairly bland costume drama as far as the story is concerned.

I never liked Keira Knightley in the Pirate of the Caribbean movies but in this movie... I still don't like her.

I think that Keira's performance was amazing. This movie really showed how women had no rights during that time, but that they didn't take the oppresssion sitting down. They did have a little fight in them. Its usually irritating to watch a movie just focus on one person the entire time, and you can tell that Dibb was a little obsessed with Keira's beauty because there was A LOT of posing shots, and a lot of close ups, but she is gorgeous so I didn't mind it that much. I think for women this movie will give rise to a lot of emotions. There were a lot of moments where you wanted it to just be 2009, because she would not have to deal with some of the things that she dealt with. And once again Ralph Fiennes finds a way to play a major douchebag. He is a brilliant actor though.
