The setup is familiar enough. A rancher (Glenn Ford) with a dark past wants to settle down. But he gets dragged into a turf war between other settlers and a powerful cattle baron (Robinson). The cast helps to elevate the material. Particularly Barbara Stanwyck as a scheming villainess.
