Original, passionate, and emotional. "Adaptation" is smartly and thematically powerful.

Felt like I was reading the screenplay, rather than watching the film itself. There are multiple layers to this meta story, which are partly based on the actual writer's experience. This is a funny and unique story that subverts the act of screenwriting and turns all conventions on their head.

What happens when a desperate mind unravels into mediocrity and cliche? The answer here is creative crazy genius. Kaufman strives to craft a simple story without car chases, drugs, sex, guns, characters making major life changes or songs. The result is a twisted tribute to movies where all these things coexist "so happy together."

Adaptation is one of those movies that just blow my mind with it's clever writing and it's weirdly but wonderful character's. Spike Jonze knows how to tell a story, make my jaw drop and knows when to surprise me with it's twist and turns. We all like to make fun of Nicolas Cage's rage moment's and I have to admit I'm one of them who takes the mick of of him, but after seeing this movie and the film Joe that came out early this year; I came say that Cage is more than a screaming over the top actor, his …

A screenwriter is tasked to adapt a book written by an author who had an extraordinary relationship to her subject. On the writing process, things become clearer and clearer as the original story reveals the certain truth.

One thing I like in this film is that the story started with sense and ended with the same level of sensibility, which we often see on movies because admit it, several movies start to make sense when it reach the twist part. I would say that it has a very good, excellent script! Great twist! The strength of the film is the script, it may look very confusing if it failed so much in execution. However, I did not see anything good or amazing about the cinematic technique, but the acting executions saved it!
Surprisingly, I liked Nicolas Cage in here, I was …

Adaptation review

It seems the director focused on the messages rather than the entertainment value. Charlie Kaufman (Nicolas Cage) was hired to write the screenplay for The Orchid Thief while his brother Donald emulates him. Susan (Meryl Streep) from the New Yorker befriends the flower expert John Laroche (Chris Cooper). Flaws include the overused flashbacks, appropriate direction, sufficient humor and a meandering plot. Performances from Cage, Cooper and Streep were endearing. Another strength was its screenplay: Robert - "People are murdered every day. There's genocide, war, corruption. Every f____ day, somewhere in the world, somebody sacrifices his life to save someone else." Charlie - "I don't want to cram in sex or guns or car chases or characters learning profound life lessons or growing or …
