As early and primitive of an adaptation as it is, this "A Christmas Carol" holds up quite well. It deviates some from the original story, but the spirit of the Dickens classic is unchanged.

This version of A Christmas Carol is not very interesting. It lacks a strong central performance, Owen plays Scrooge very boringly. Most of the cast is rather boring although I did like Gene Lockhart as Bob Cratchit. The changes to this one's story are unneeded and do not add anything to the story. The film is never very interesting and is rather boring most of the time. It lack the emotional strength of the great adaptations. There is nothing special about the version it is a completely unspectacular version.
