The film is entertaining, but nothing special here. The alien spacecraft look real, that was cool! The story was too long for me. to much of the same things going on throughout the movie. I would recommend watching it once.

Putting the gory in allegory, "District 9" turns a B-movie camp premise into modern body horror classic that parallels first contact and government response to alien invasion with xenophobia, apartheid, and militarized relocation.

Quick tip: Don't eat anything before or during this movie. You will regret it.
I decided to give D9 another watch, since I didn't enjoy it the first time.
Now I enjoy it even less.
First and foremost, Wikus is an idiot. He's like a South African Peter Griffin, and that's bad marketing for the country.
I'm most likely in the minority that thinks this: I think Neill Blomkamp is a terrible director.
By now, I'm pretty sure he lenses his films through an iPod.
His shaky cam, half-documentary half-science fiction style is a clash of tones that doesn't fit.
Everything in this movie is ugly, almost disgusting. It made me feel nauseous watching it.
That may have been the look they were going for, I just didn't think it was appealing or at all interesting, it just took me out of the …

It was the marketing coup of the young century: When in January 2008 "Cloverfield" launched in theaters worldwide, the film was already on everyone's lips. The "Cloverfield" strategists at producer J.J. Abrams had without the pull of big stars get along and there was no popular literary model. In addition, the budget of just $ 25 million was far removed from the usual blockbuster for comparable magnitude. But Abrams followed a clever tactic: A little teaser that really made exceptionally curious, deliberately scattered over the Internet video and images, and appetizers to a strict confidentiality policy stoked the interest of the growing and influential online community.
This strategy was for The Lord of the Rings (Peter Jackson) unmistakably pattern for his sci-fi …

This film really surprised me. I had high expectations, but I did not know this would be great. This film is brilliant!
The thing that caught my attention right away was the documentary sections. I did not think it could be so appealing, but the mockumentary strategy really sets this film apart from every other lame alien movie. It makes the entire story feel so real. Brilliant filmmaking! For a relatively low budget, indie film, I was surprised by how great the special effects were. The action scenes were awesome, as were the aliens. I also really liked the gory parts of the film, it works. I was also very surprised by the acting, particularly by first time actor, Sharlto Copley. He gives a very strong and emotional performance that really carried the film and added a great level of …

It was surprisingly fantastic!  It does a great job blending documentary with action.  Surprised to hear that most of the dialogue was improvised.  Also, the effects look completely real!

I left the theater feeling I had been a bit ripped off , but found myself 8 hours later still thinking about this film..  was it a well done, blair witch project styled science fiction film ?  The special effects never seemed to get in the way of the plot driven film. The film is told mainly from the perspective of a single individual, Van de Merwe, and the greed of MNU officials.  Although the aliens are quite well crafted, their appearance was never foremost in the film's …
