But the straight-forward plan is revealed to be anything but routine, and the group must deal with betrayal and deceit on the road to possible redemption. This movie has one of the worst CG blood in film history. the action is mindless and they is not story.

very good movie! Really good actors in it too. Good plot line. I thought it was comedic mixed with action. I find it amazing that Sylvester Stallone directed and starred in the movie. He did a really good job. I really enjoyed the plot and it made sense. I felt like there was a lot of killing though and I'm not going to be the person who says violence shouldn't be in movies, I'm just saying that i felt like Stallone could have edited out a lot of the violence and killings and destruction. That's just me though. I would highly recommend it if you like comedy mixed with violence/action

An over the top action movie that certainly does not stress the characters very much, but there is plenty of over the top action. I will admit I did enjoy the some of the most over the top action moments, and seeing the team up of various action stars was enjoyable as well. The story certainly is excessively simple though, and the moments that attempt to stress character are less than compelling. Also although some scenes are so over the top their enjoyable, the action on the whole does have frankly too much shaky cam, and the use of cgi sometimes very poor particularly at the end of the film when someone is on fire.

Surprisingly decent

Does this film actually deserve 3/4 stars, probably not, but anytime you can put Stallone, Li, Lundgren, Eric (Not to be confused with his Sister Julia) Roberts, "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, Rourke, and cameos by Schwarzeneger, and probably my favorite of all Bruce Willis you have a great cast of washed up 80's and 90's action heroes, also known as my heroes. My only question here with the casting, happens to be the most entertaining character in the film, and that's Statham. His acting credits only go back to 1998's Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels, (which is amazing). But, he doesn't really fit in with the rest of the washed up cast. This I found to be the most fascinating part of the film. Why Statham? Could they not get anyone else? Was Van Damme busy? Anyway, it doesn't …

A wet-dream tough guy ensemble!

“Oh... and by the way... He wants to be president”
A group of elite mercenaries (Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture and Terry Crews) who call themselves “The Expendables” are men for hire who would get the job done at any means necessary. When a mysterious man, who calls himself Mr. Church (Uncredited Cameo by Bruce Willis) hires "The Expendables" to overthrow a South American dictator General Garza (David Zayas) little do they realize that the real target is ex-CIA agent James Munroe (Eric Roberts) as well as his two henchman's (one of the best WWE wrestlers Stone Cold Steve Austin and Gary Daniels).
Meanwhile, "The Expendables" gets help from a mysterious woman Sandra (Gisele Itié), who is their contact for the mission. When they …

Major Disappointment

When Giselle Itié’s character, Sandra, says to Stallone “How did you come to be here?” - I was asking myself the same question. I can be a sucker for a good action picture and given how stuffed the cast list was for this movie, I was betting for something between decent and awesome. Boy, was I wrong. ‘Guns of Navarone’, this wasn’t. It isn’t even in the same league as other more recent action pictures like ‘Max Max’ or ‘Die Hard’. Oh, and that list of past action stars? It’s a bit misleading. Messrs Schwarzenegger, and Willis put in all-too brief cameo appearances, and Mickey Rourke is primarily used as window dressing.
To be sure, ‘The Expendables’ has it all, bad-good guys, good-bad guys, and even bad-bad guys. Confused yet? If not, the story will make …

its actually intentionally funny, nobody knows how ridiculous action movies are better than action movie stars.

I enjoy the fact that there are so many huge talents in this movie,  but I laughed the first time I saw the trailer. It might be one of those movies that turn out to be unintentionally funny, or it could surprise me and be a great action film. With Stallone as the writer, I don't expect too much from this film even with the talent oozing from the seams.
