Betrayed takes a provocative premise (an undercover agent falling for the leader of a white supremacist gang) and executes it haphazardly. For one thing, Debra Winger falls in love with Tom Berenger far too quickly. He is actually solid as the charismatic extremist as frightening as some of his dialogue is. He still makes dumb decisions because the plot demands it like inviting a newcomer to a human hunting party. Also that only one person out of the group is suspicious of Debra Winger is hard to believe. There are some effective moments like the aforementioned kidnapping and murder of a black person by racist rednecks and Winger visiting a militia compound is chilling.
