I remember watching this years ago, and I just recently watched it again. I enjoyed it a long time ago, and enjoyed yesterday.

"Billy Jack" is a movie that captures the cultural tumult and idealism of the 1970s. The central character, Billy Jack, is an ex-Green Beret who has had enough of fighting, but is forced to defend the people of the Freedom School from the closed-minded violence of the people from the nearby town. This movie deals with the changing attitudes toward race, gender, age, and social class that defined the 70s. Although the dialogue is not always great, the essential messages of the film come through clearly. This movie has become a cult classic, and the opening song "One Tin Soldier" is enough to make anyone stop and think about the state of the world today.
