"I kick ass for the lord". the story is about a rat monkey and slowly transforms into a zombie - and soon is infecting everyone in sight leaving Lionel to take control of the situation. The make-up and the gore in the film is crazy and hard to watch, but they are funny parts in the film that work with the horror.

I'm giving this film less than three stars because I'm not one to rewatch and enjoy extremely gory films and, comedy or not, this is one of the goriest films ever made. That said, it's extremely witty and funny in parts and the film moves at a breakneck pace that makes it seem like it goes by in a flash. The special effects, though unintended to look realistic, are insanely creative and sometimes impressive. So, not for me, but a hardcore horror film love will probably eat it up.

Having heard on how great and gory this film was I got myself a copy..umm yeah? The movie itself is soo bad I will not even rate it a b film however that is where the comedic value comes in as the cheesy gore scenes at times had me breathless in laughter especially with the zombie baby that two of the zombies made together. The film is gory however keep in mind it was made years ago and the fx used would be so much better and nastier if it was made today.\
Hard to believe this film was directed by the same guy who brought forth The Lord Of The Rings series of films..Peter Jackson well I guess we all have to start somewhere don't we?
Storyline here is as follows... At the beginning of the film we see a crew out in what I believe his the darkest parts of Africa where they have …

Dead Alive
Harley Lond - wrote on 02/20/2012
Before he traveled to Middle Earth, Peter Jackson directed the goriest film of all time, "Dead Alive" (1992), a riotous mix of horror and comedy that stands right up there with 'The Evil Dead' as a modern classic of the genre. Set in Jackson's home of New Zealand, the film follows the trials and tribulations of Lionel, a young man whose domineering mother is bitten by a rat monkey and turns into a flesh-eating zombie who infects everyone she bites. Lionel tries to hide mom from the world, but she starts growing bigger and bigger until she becomes the size of a house -- literally -- and a party thrown by his uncle turns into a bloodbath the likes of which you have never seen before on the big (or little) screen. As Lionel tries to fend off the horde of zombies created by mom, he turns to …

Dead Alive (Braindead) review

This would have been better with improved character development and skilled acting. The gore factor is high from the very start. A poor version of Evil Dead and Dawn of the Dead, the special effects were not as impressive and had ludicrous scenes at times. Lionel is not an interesting protagonist and really horrible editing was evident. The fighting priest was action packed and funny. Plot was all over the place and screenplay wasn't polished. "Lionel's relative exclaims: "Blood is thicker than water Lionel." The greed and romantic angle seems to be presented in the latter portion of the film. Acting of the characters were aweful that that it was enough reason to laugh about it. Dead Alive (Braindead) provided a few laughs and horrific sequences despite its lackluster direction.
