Overwrought epic about the famed Mongol ruler, played by a miscast Omar Sharif. Khan's legacy as a highly successful but extremely ruthless military tactician is far too complicated to reduce him as a swashbuckling heroic figure. It doesn't help that the bit players like Stephen Boyd, Robert Morley, and James Mason seem equally out of place. The best thing about this is Telly Savalas. The movie probably cost money but it looks cheap.
