Not even close to the movie "The Hustler" was, the dialogue is so bland and the movie is so hollow that you forget you're watching something by Martin Scorsese.

The Color of Money is a solid, yet unspectacular film. It is entertaining, but isn't nearly as good as most of Scorsese's other films. Paul Newman is fantastic in his Oscar winning performance as "Fast" Eddie Felson. Tom Cruise is annoying and cocky. The story provides a good insight into the dark underbelly of pool hustling.

It's a servicable sequel that misses the smoky tension of the first film. Scorsese directs more of a standard poolhall drama and, though Newman is spectacular, as always, the film is missing the freshness and power of the Hustler.
