Great movie, what else can I say? The story was well done. Noomi Rapace and Charlize Theron rock in this film. Great color and cinematography!

Ridley Scott should have left his masterful creation "Alien" alone. This kinda-sorta origin flick falls apart in the third act and suffers from an unsatisfying haze of dubious lore, philosophy, and character motives.

A Problematic Prequel
MovieMike - wrote on 01/25/2017
Director Ridley Scott has been responsible for a number of iconic films since his freshman outing of ‘The Duelists’(1977). The two films that stand out above the rest have to be ‘Blade Runner’ (1982) and ‘Alien’ (1979). I don’t want to imply that either of these is better than any of his other films, but they do represent a benchmark in film making that has led to many other quality films in this genre. ‘Blade Runner’ is sci-fi meets western and ‘Alien’ is sci-fi combined with horror. Even the tag line ‘In space, no one can hear you scream…’ still evokes both intrigue and chills. I lost interest in the ‘Alien’ franchise after the third sequel and was sad to see the development of the ‘Alien vs Predator’ movies – it definitely cheapened the …

A beautiful mess.

Prometheus is probably the one movie I can never make up my mind about.
I've seen it around four times now, and it strikes me as quite far-reaching.
Story-wise, this movie has such a huge scope, that it feels like it doesn't even know where it's going. Some scenes are great, others are poorly written, but the main premise and development of the movie are impressive.
The first few minutes of this film were fantastic. I absolutely love Ridley Scott's beautiful direction and the whole mysterious alien waterfall scene.
Other times the film is pretty bloated with bad characters and actors. The clear standouts are Noomi Rapace and Michael Fassbender, two of my favorite actors working today, especially Fassbender.
The movie tends to evolve very one-sidedly. There is so much focus on …

WOW

First off, we know that a sequel is coming in the future, so maybe some of these questions will get answered. Also, I came to this film from a different view point than most, I have never seen the Alien films. But, I was not totally naive to the fact that those films, do exist and that this was supposed to be a prequel of sorts.
I have a few questions to pose, first, let's begin at the beginning and talk about the engineer who is seen drinking the black goo at the start of the film, then disintegrating into dust. Some people tend to think that he was "creating" life, because that's what the engineers do, they "create" life. But, what if that isn't necessarily the beginning, but the end? What if he was already infected and this was the engineers way of getting him off their ship? …

I  can't believe you guys liked this movie.  It was such a failure, and it shrinks in my mind even more as time passes.

Guys, I took this movie to be about the hazards of looking for big answers. Not getting them at the end was kind of the whole point. If you didn't understand that, you really should work on your viewing comprehension skills. Also, they DID answer most of the questions raised (who created us, why, when, how). They just didn't answer one or two questions (why did the Engineers change their mind and what does the black goo do -- neither of which we questions posed at the BEGINNING at the movie, …

I went into the movie not looking for answers but looking for a unique sci fi movie. I got it. There are definite flaws and some silly scenes that I could live without (the last 10 seconds were pointless) but it was extremely well acted and had more story than the original Alien could ever of had no matter how you slice it.
