It combines "Bill and Ted" with themes from "Despicable Me," but "Mr. Peabody & Sherman" isn't as funny or likable as said instant classics due largely to a not-so-funny and busy script

It was an OK animated feature - but, seriously, don't take this as a history lesson because, well, it's entertainment. This is a solid animated effort, but nothing truly stands out (either good or bad) and it falls into that realm of nebulous decent-but-forgettable animated films. It's not Pixar, but if you need a standby family film, it will hold over well enough.

This movie was like meet the robinsons. Mr. Peabody is a most intelligent dog and Sherman is his young adopted charge. Together, using his most brilliant invention, the WABAC machine, the two travel though time and experience history first hand. Yet their travels are not without consequence and the two find themselves having to repair history in order to save the future. This movie had good animation but the jokes didn't really work for me.

'Mr. Peabody & Sherman' is perfectly serviceable and appealing to all ages. It sits right on the very edge of a full recommendation. Others may not have the same problems as I, but my expectations shot through the roof after watching the …
