This belated sequel to the 2007 movie turned internet meme benefits from a more focused narrative and a much more fascinating villain played by Eva Green. The gory action and stylized visuals remain in place but it does lack the same punch as Zack Snyder's overwrought if more original hit.

I am not a fan of actions taken place on water, I feel like there's not much room for them to battle in different ways. But this film, 300: Rise of An Empire, changed how I see action above sea. I think the best part was Themistocles rode on his horse and slashed Persian warriors. That was really cool! A horse in a water battle?? That's so good! Hoping for a third installment!

One star for Eva Green's excellent rack. If we could give an award for "most bizarre sex scene" this movie would win. WIldly, offensively inaccurate and entirely unnessecary.

An unnecessary sequel,prequel or whatever-quel !

"300" which appeared in 2007 was a groundbreaking revelation. Not so much in terms of content, but in terms of the visualization of the heroic battles that 300 Greeks fought, in the battle of Thermopylae led by King Leonidas. The slow motion chopping spectacle with blood splattering all over the place,is still burned into my memory.A breathtaking movie.
This movie isn't a prequel or sequel. It's an epic drama that encompasses the story of "300".Does it add value? Can it outpace "300" in terms of violence and bloodshed? Does the heroism increase in this film to a higher level? Are all your nerves strained to the limit when viewing this Greek tragedy? Bwah, not really. To be honest I was quite disappointed, annoyed and disinterested after a certain time.An easy duplicate of the original …

As a big fan of the first 300 i was looking forward to this one. The story is part of the original 300 story but this time they consentate on the sea battle before and after the 300 spartan battle so its all interconnecte which i really liked. . the battle mainly takes place on the sea and looks as good as you would expect. . Eva green steals the show with her performance which makes me look forward to her in the forth coming sin city 2. Lena headey(game of thrones) and 300 was great as always. while the movie didn't quite match the first one it was still a enjoyable experience and a very good film. the film ends when i thought it was going to continue so i guess there is more to come from the spartans in a future movie.
i heard lots of talk of blood and violence but i didn't think …

300: On a Boat

When Zach Snyder gave us 300 back in 2006, it was the perfect storm of amazing CGI, testosterone-driven action (despite the fake abs) and just a bit of titillation - not to mention some great source material via Frank Miller. Fast-forward to 2014 and we get this somewhat-sequel (a lot of the action in this film essentially takes place during the events of the first film - just in a completely different area) - and, despite Snyder moving on to bigger and better things, Noam Murro manages to capture that same feeling. Granted, things are a little played out now on that front, but Rise of an Empire still delivers an over-the-top action experience that is plenty enjoyable if you enjoyed the original.
We open with the Battle of Marathon where an early Persian incursion, led by King Darius, …

big fan of Eva , one thing in common the critics seem to be agreed on is that she is fantastic in this movie. looking forward to seeing it,no matter how it does she should get some good roles from 300.

I had a lot of fun with this one - if you liked the original, this one should be right up your alley. Also, Eva Green is sexy evil to the nth degree.

I suspect this is going to be pure spectacle - I enjoyed the first one, but I'm not expecting lightning to strike twice. I'm going to await the trailers before I pass judgement on whether or not I'll watch it in theaters or wait to stream it at home.
