The premise long outstays its welcome, and nearly all of the humor feels like stiff, leftover Family Guy jokes.

Didn't expect a touching drama, I thought it would be just pure comedy and restricted humor. Ryan Reynold's gay role was...

Wishing This Was Better

When I first saw previews for ‘Ted’, I immediately thought this was a blatant rip-off of FX’s series, ‘Wilfred’. Close, but not quite. Instead of a man-sized dog that only Elija Wood can talk to, ‘Ted’ comes to life for all to see and interact with – most specifically his ‘thunder buddy’, Mark Wahlberg. ‘Ted’ is powered by Seth McFarlane’s voice and comedy (if you’ve ever seen TV’s ‘Family Guy’, you have an idea of what’s in store).
The basis of the story is that young John Bennett is a loner who is ignored by his peers. Starving for a real friend, he wishes his teddy bear Christmas present could be his live best buddy. When this does come to pass, Ted initially freaks everyone out, but then quickly becomes the celebrity of the moment. As John (now …

F*** You Thunder!

Essentially a live action version of Family Guy, with even a few of those great cut-aways. There is even a reference to the fact that Ted sounds like Peter Griffin. All of the key players are featured in this film, if even for a scene. The weakest link was probably Mark Wahlberg. Now, I'm not a huge fan of "Marky Mark," but, I know that he can do better. As some have noted below, there are some flaws with the script, but that's to be expected for this type of film. It's not going for prestige. I thought this was a good and original first effort from Seth MacFarlane. I'm excited to see what he does on the Oscar's broadcast.
SPOILER ALERT: When Ted comes back to life at the end, they should have kept him retarded with a huge scar running through his midsection.

Hope You Like Family Guy

Have you ever watched Family guy and wished it had more cursing? Then this is the movie for you. I really enjoyed the crude humor in the movie but it did get a little old after the one hour mark. What did surprise me was that the story was well thought out executed very well. This could have been a horrible movie full of crude humor but instead it was a very watchable movie full of crude humor. I have to give Seth MacFarlane credit for that. If he can turn out some better stories and tone done the crudeness he could make some really good movies in the future. I also can not ignore the actors. Mark Wahlberg played a bumbling buffoon very well but my favorite part was Joel McHale as the slimy boss. Joel McHale can play an arrogant ass like nobody else. In the end if you can't get past some …

I actually thought the movie was hilarious. It was not the best movie I have ever seen, but watching the movie did make my night. Maybe this is because I also enjoy watching family guy, so the humor and jokes are familiar for me.

Last weekend I watched Ted with my 14 year old daughter. Although the movie did have bad examples, drugs, lewd jokes, language and drinking, I thought it was a good example of what NOT to do when they are older. But, overall, it was a really funny movie!http://litbloc.com/?s=mov ies

It was good - but it wasn't outstanding. Maybe this is one of those movies that grows on you with repeated viewings.

(Owen McKenna Rio Rancho, NM) I agree, I didn't find the Ted to be that funny of a movie. I did laugh at times, but not continuously like my friends told me I would.

I'm not sure if my expectations were too high.  I didn't even want to see the movie at first.  The positive word-of-mouth sort of changed my mind momentarily.  I think it just comes down to the fact that all of the humor was so much in the style of Family Guy and I'm not a fan of the show's humor most of the time.  Thats about the main reason I can come up with for not favoring this film as much as everyone else.
