The climactic eruption of DANTE'S PEAK is a harrowing montage of set pieces from a crumbling bridge to an acidic lake to literal balls of fire. The visual spectacle of carnage has aged well over the past twenty years. However, there's a solid hour and fifteen minutes of tedious 'meet cute' vignettes to get through. Brosnan and Hamilton are adequate if not really memorable protagonists. It does not help that most of the supporting cast are either idiotic or plain unlikable.

Dr. Harry Dalton (Pierce Brosnan), a volcanologist, was assigned to a mountain near Dante's Peak. Locations were excellent and score suited the mood of the picture. There were numerous idiotic moments from the characters and almost impossible situations that only Hollywood can fabricate. Performances and effects were believable, which in effect, makes Dante’s Peak somewhat watchable despite the simple but touching premise.

This is a well deserved movie about another kind of natural disaster, volcanos. It really does give you the feel like you are in this little town and being faced with the possibility of have to pack and run. It makes me glad that there is not even a 'dormant' one anywhere close to me. Very good special effects, very good cast, and script is done supurb. Seeing Harry Dalton's past helps you soo how he reacts to the present situation. This is a must see if you are a fan of disaster movies.

Dante's peak

Possible spoilers.
My main problem with the movie is, it is far to much clichéd. Pierce Brosnan as a geologist who thinks that a vulcano somewhere in a town, named "Dante's Peak" will maybe awake falls is love with the divorced mayor, who has kids which can and are allowed to drive with the car and not ´being older than 12. At first the town refuses to listen and, of course, the vulcano awakes.
There are so many unrealistic features in this film. Some examples.
The earthquake begins, and the other geologist tells PB that the national security can only come tomorrow. WTH? How must the call have been?
We have a vulcano exploding here. We need help!!!!
Oh, we are going to come tomorrow ok? :)
Oh, yeah that is fine.
When the earthquake begins and half the town is in ashes. our …

Dante’s Peak is about a so called ‘extinct’ volcano located in Washington. A volcanologist named Harry Dalton is wanted to search the volcano to make sure that it is extinct because they have seen some seismic activity there. He goes and checks it out and along the way he meets the mayor of the town and her 2 kids. After they discover 2 people floating dead in a pool of hot springs and dead animals in the forest, his team and he soon discover that the volcano is dormant and about to erupt! I researched some of the events that occurred in the movie and a high percentage of them were true. The dead animals, the boat that float across the acid and that and eruption can turn a lake into volcanic acid. This movie is very entertaining, keeps you wanting to watch more to see what …

Movie Review: Dante’s Peak
This is about a big Volcano named Dante’s Peak. It killed many people and turned day to night. It put a whole bed of ash on the town and it was very deadly. Harry Dalton is a volcanologist and came into town to look at this volcano. He found out that the volcano was the water source for the town and before it erupted, it made the water brown because it was mixed with sulfur. Harry also helped the family get away from all of the lava, so they traveled across the lake by boat, but the volcano turned that to sulfuric acid, so all the fish died and when people tried to swim in it to get away, it didn’t work! Grandma was one of those people, and it didn’t turn out very well. This is a very good movie and I would recommend it to everyone. So watch …
