Duel in the Sun is not a particularly good film about a good son, a bad son, and a fiery mixed women. The problem is the story is not that interesting, it is too long, and confused, with the two son dynamic wasted, as well as the cliche of the mean father boringly played by Lionel Barrymore, as well as the good mother. The relationship might of made the film interesting if the acting was better which is the main problem with the film. Joseph Cotton is given nothing to do, Jennifer Jones lacks the sultry quality needed for her part, and Gregory Peck overacts so much it is hard to believe. The only thing I sort of liked was Walter Huston in a small role, but that was hardly enough.
