This film reminded this critic with a combination of elements from The Transporter, Drive and Taken. The action sequences from the car's persepective maybe mesmerizing but hampers the plot and overall excitement since all Brent Magna (Ethan Hawke) is talk and drive. We never get sufficient background development from almost all of the characters especially the antagonist. The constant bickering in the car doesn't even entertain. Overall, if your into stunt driving this is for you. For film aficionado's, its a disaster from the furious empty beginning to the mysterious and dull conclusion.

jason statham must of turned this down as its about a guy in a car with a girl , if he did he made a wise choice. The whole movie is just a guy in a car with a girl driving about and now and then being chased by lots of cop cars who just end up crashing into walls and such lol. then it ends. it felt like a quick movie but nothing really happened. and the dialogue was poor and awkward . it isn't a terrible movie but its not one worth watching either .

As a young kid I was watching a stunt show at the seaside somewhere along the Belgian coast many years ago. I couldn't believe what I saw and it was a wonderful spectacle as they simply drove cars to shreds . Afterwards I received a sticker of this group and I kept it for years in a book.
In the meantime I've lost that sticker and slightly more than 30 years later , I'm at an age that I 'm not surprised that quickly anymore . "Getaway" looks like a film with such a stuntshow . A series of high-speed pursuits with many police cars flying around and heaps of metal that is wrecked .
The star in this film is the Mustang driven by Ethan Hawke and is reminiscent of " Roadrunner " . You see him all the time , and even though you do your best to get hold of him every time he gets away. It …

If there was ever a time where I didn't want to talk about a movie, it's now.
I can't enjoy stupid movies. I just can't. I wanted to like this, because it was late at night and I was out with friends, a great setting.
Getaway is what you get when you hire an autistic person to write the next Bourne series. Ethan Hawke is having a really wobbly year with the excellent Before Midnight, the poorly-received Purge and now this. This insult to cinema.
Selena Gomez is in this movie. Yeah. You'd think they would at least make her nice to look at, but no. They didn't even allow us that single luxury. She is like five teenage Jar-Jar Binkses in a fast car. She should stay out of music and she should definitely stay out of movies, because she has no idea how to pass something off as a …
