This isn't your typical movie about young aspiring performers chasing their dreams. "Fame" presents its character' stories with unsentimental realism, chronicling their triumphs and failures while checking conventional corniness at the door.

I didn't like it. I didn't understand the point of the story line. Many people say it is a classic but I don't think so. I was expecting it to be like Hairspray or Grease but it definitely didn't come close. I had no emotional attachment to any of the characters. The only time I really paid attention was during the sex scene. So I wouldn't recommend this movie. Maybe the remake is better, I have yet to see it.
