It won't grow on you as well as the original, but it's fun, especially for anyone who's a fan of the show.

A great throwback as well as an outstanding comeback for fans of seasons and 1 through 3. A moderate 3 out of 4.

There are sequences in this film that, like the show, will force one to think they're on acid. In other words, it's kind of fun. "Sponge Out of Water" offers edgy entertainment for 90 minutes that will be completely forgotten once it comes to an end.

The live-action bits were okay interruptions during the first two-thirds, but the (almost full) third act looses steam when the animated troop are rendered 3D in a real-world setting.
