Two Days, One Night- Carnivorous Couch Review

This one grows in my esteem each time I watch it. A lovely, humane, and real story about bouncing back from a breakdown and finding the courage to engage with our fellow human beings. Marion Cotillard lässt ihre Persönlichkeit als Filmstar sowie ihr glamoröses Aussehen mal aussen vor, um im neuen Film der Dardennes eine Heldin der Arbeiterklasse zu spielen. Für Cotillard ist der Film eine willkommene Abwechslung, für die Dardennes aber nicht. Weder von der Thematik her, noch von der Tonart passt Deux jours, Une Nuit in das Oeuvre der belgischen Brüder. Mit Ehrlichkeit und filmischer Eleganz zeigten sie das Leben der einfachen Menschen und immer wieder deren Kampf mit den Widrigkeiten der Armut. Der Unterschied ist diesmal schlicht, dass wir einen gefeierten internationalen Star sehen. Nun werden viele sagen, wie mutig Cotillard sei, ohne Makeup in den Arbeitskampf zu treten!
