Surprisingly entertaining and good-humored piece. On how it was directed, it targets both young audiences and young at heart. I couldn't believe I would actually laugh on its jokes and punchlines. I thought it was made for middle schoolers but here I am, a 26-year old unemployed dude enjoying the movie more than I predicted I would. Definitely worth our while. I will be waiting for a sequel!

Thanks to a fun performance by Zachary Levi and a light yet imaginative spirit, Shazam is an entertaining take on the superhero genre. It works fine as a family film, a buddy flick, and a tentpole blockbuster. Levi plays the part similar to Tom Hanks in Big;he’s just a big kid at heart. Mark Strong is serviceable as the villain but he’s less interesting than his own demonic henchmen. It does run a little too long like the other DCEU movies.

Shazam! - Review
Matthew Brady - wrote on 05/07/2019
Me a few years ago: "Hey DC, are you trying to f**k this up on purpose? Seriously! What the hell is going on over there."
DC: OK Matt
Me after Shazam: Well, that's more like it.
I've been harsh at DC for awhile now, but for good reasons. I don't want them to fail, it's just that they keep missing the point. However they are listening and improving. If this is the direction DC is taking, then I think it will exciting and ambitious, if done properly.
'Shazam!' is the true hero DC needs right now, right behind 'Wonder Women' for this rocky cinematic universe. It’s fun, light-hearted, funny and embraces the corniness. Although don’t let that trick you into thinking it doesn’t have any serious moments, because when it gets dark, it’s absolutely terrifying and no surprise …

Shazam! is Quite Marvel-ous

Before Captain Marvel there was... Captain Marvel - but DC had to let go of the rights and thus we get Shazam! instead. I guess it worked out for the best because you just can't help but smile when you say Shazam! (I dare you to try - and if you can... YOU MONSTER!) - and you can't help but smile while watching the latest DCEU film.
Shazam! comes on the heels of Aquaman, where DC decided to cut loose and have a little fun. While Aquaman was nearly over-the-top with its action and just its look, Shazam! is much more grounded - and it owes a lot to the Tom Hanks classic Big (which it pays homage to in a fun way). Our "hero" as it is, is not an alien from a distant planet, or a billionaire with a lot of toys or a warrior from a secretive race - no, he's actually just an ordinary kid …

My Box Office Prediction
Opening: $67 Million
Domestic: $180 Million
Overseas: $322 Million
Worldwide: $502 Million
My Say: Considering Aquaman has been a massive box office success (Over $1 Billion Worldwide), Shazam! good surprise us, BUT, It will definitely not gross as much as Aquaman Because Shazam isn’t the most famous DC character, Plus Endgame comes out a few weeks later. But I think Shazam will surprise in a smaller way with it Grossing at the highest around $500 Million …
