Plot: As the 2004 presidential election approached, 60 Minutes, led by CBS news head Mary Mapes and veteran newscaster Dan Rather, aired a segment on presidential hopeful George W. Bush - namely that his father's political ties led to him avoiding the Vietnam draft. When the Killian Documents were proved to be false, it led to a fallout ultimately ending the careers of many, including Mapes and, many have speculated, the retirement of Rather himself. -- Chris Kavan

It ruined the lives of veteran reporter Dan Rather (Robert Redford) and his superior Mary Mapes (Cate Blanchett).
There's a compelling story to be told through film about that and for the first hour, Truth is going in that direction. Redford and …
