Some gritty, powerful moments don't quite overcome a sloppy narrative that skims over important details. 50 Cent does show some inpressive acting chops, however. Final Grade: C+

Get Rich or Die Tryin'

Rapper Curtis "50 cent" Jackson chronicles his life in a semi-autobiographical story as a young drug dealer then grown up drug dealer turned rapper. 50 cent does a good job letting us into his past and pulls out a just decent performance, The major flaw with this film however, is that it spends most of the movies two hours, focusing just on drugs. The scene stealers however, are Adewale Akinnouye-Agbaje is the drug lord Majestic and Joy Bryant as Charlene(50 cent's love interest). Another good thing about this film is the good direction by Jim Sheridan. I wasn't a big fan of this movie, the screenplay is terrible, i wanted a lot more when it was over. When it comes down to it, The two scene stealers and the direction are what keeps this going. I do not recommend this film.
