As funny as it is honest, "The Edge of Seventeen" is elevated above most other teen comedies.

Hailee Steinfeld dropped off the planet for a few years but she's doing well lately. She shines in this coming-of-age teen drama which is often awkwardly funny and doesn't lose focus by trying to be too quirky. Woody Harrelson is great as her wise if weary teacher.
