Plot: Dave has hit rock bottom - he's left his girlfriend and finds himself sleeping on his sister's couch and being a bad influence on his young nephew, Felix. But he finds a ray of sunshine in Felix's teach Miss Caroline and when he has a chance to accompany her on a field trip, he doesn't pass up the opportunity. Unfortunately a nearby military base experiences a zombie outbreak - and the duo must not only contend with saving the class and avoiding the zombies, but also deal with a decidedly foul-mouthed, opportunistic and devious Teddy McGiggles, a popular children's show host who will do anything to save himself. -- Chris Kavan

A bit juvenile in delivery but it has enough good moments - like precocious Darth Vader cosplay, a proper use of Taylor Swift's "Shake It Off" and Josh Gad playing a villain for once - that it's worth it. While the humor can be hit-or-miss, Lupita Nyong'o is a true ray of sunshine, whether she's singing or decapitating zombies. A nice change of pace for once.

Can we play the shooty game,Uncle David?
I don’t want us to get in trouble, Felix.
We’ll have to play it with the sound off.
Well, there’s always the award “Disappointment of the year”. I’m afraid this year the film “Little Monsters” will take the credits for this. I had regained confidence in the combination of horror and comedy after watching “Monster Party” and “The dead don’t die“. I’ve always had a problem with it when moviemakers mix these two genres. But these last two films managed to rekindle my enthusiasm. Well, “Little Monsters” has nipped that enthusiasm in the bud. There were some highlights in this zombie movie. But overall, I was plagued by a yawning attack and I was constantly annoyed about certain situations.
I do understand …
