Nothing much makes sense in this heavy-handed, uneven drama with sharp direction but limited performances and a script that leaves a lot of unanswered questions. Final Grade: C

Unfortunately, this should have been better, with the talent involved. Based on an unfinished idea by Krzysztof Kieslowski, this film was okay but didn't reach its full potential. Cate Blanchett and Giovanni Ribisi's characters are interesting and unique, but you never really root for them. You would never know this was a Tom Tykwer film, because it doesn't have his signature style.
