I prefer this movie treatment of a Frank Loesser musical to Guys and Dolls. The main advantage it has, for me anyway, is Robert Morse, whose portrayal of the ambitious main character, J. Pierpont Finch is more inventive and memorable than Frank or Marlon's Guys. (And Robert Morse played the role in the Pultizer Prize-winning Broadway version.) I also love the fifties look of the production and the non-stop forward movement.

A great musical that is sadly not very well known. It really is a great silly 60's style story and musical. Its fun watching Finch work his way up from window washer with the help of his trusty how to book. If you like funny musicals this is well worth a try.
