Plot: The re-imagining of the classic Wizard of Oz goes from the stage to the
big screen as we follow Elphaba on a journey to change the world. The
green-skinned woman is different in more ways than one - a precious gift
of true magic in a world where magic is waning. She arrives at college
and is paired with Glinda, rich and rather spoiled, but soon the two
find a friendship. When her powers are recognized, she is invited to an
audience with the Wizard of Oz himself - only to realize a dark truth

Whether it's just glorified fan-fiction or not, "Wicked" assures itself a legacy separate from "The Wizard of Oz."
