The classic still translates today into an awesome movie. The coming of age movie has a perfect amount of romance, life-lessons, and revenge. Macchio was a great choice to play Daniel, the good kid in a new place trying to adapt to the different lifestyle than he's used to. The fight scenes are believable and don't get too cheesy, except of course the swan kick. This is a must see movie for all ages.

Classic 80s teen version of Rocky that's wall to wall cliches, but all the more enjoyable for it.

Jahrelang wollte ich den Film nicht sehen. Ich mag keine Lehrer-Schüler Filme und schon gar kein Karate. Aber: Ich lag komplett daneben. The Karate Kid ist eine der schönsten Überraschungen aus den 80ern! Eine aufregende, herzerwärmende Geschichte mit einer der interessantesten Freundschaften, die das Kino zu bieten hat! Karate Kid, das ist Daniel (Ralph Macchio) aus New Jersey, der mit seiner Mutter nach Los Angeles zieht. Ein alter japanischer Mann namens Miyagi (Pat Morita) arbeitet als Hausmeister in ihrer Apartment-Anlage. In dem Moment, da sich Daniel für die Ex-Freundin des Anführers einer Schläger-Gang zu interessieren beginnt, bekommt er alle paar Momente eins auf den Kopf.
