Another of Brooks' non-parody films. This one is mostly overlooked. It's definitely not his best, but it is still worth a watch if you love his movies.

Not enough laughs

"Goddard Bolt" (Mel Brooks, who also the director and co-writer) is a successful millionaire businessman who is about to purchase a major piece of property from Los Angeles that is filled with the homeless. His plan is to demolish the rundown buildings, and replace it with new, expensive buildings.
However, he makes a bet with a co-executive, "Vance Crasswell" (Jeffrey Tambor) after he says he could live without his money. The bet -- live on the street, penniless, for 30 days.
On the street, he meets those who rely on the kindness of strangers. He even meets a woman (Lesley Ann Warren) who lives in an alley, whom he becomes infatuated with.

Not the usual Mel Brooks movie, but not bad.

I remember when this movie came out on VHS. I had just seen the first few Mel Brooks and I was psyched to see that he was still coming up with new material. He stars in this movie as "Pepto" Bolt. A rich business man that believes he is better than everyone else. One of his competitors makes a bet with him that he accepts, for him to live on the streets for one month without any of lifes luxuries. He has to live for 30 days in the streets of LA completely penniless.
The movie was really funny for its time, while I haven't seen it in a few years I am pretty sure that it is some what dated. The time this movie came out the Yuppie boom was in full effect and people could remember these types of wallstreet business tycoons that lived above everyone else.
