'Lord of War' is such an overlooked and underappreciated gem. The opening scene alone with 'Buffalo Springfield - For What It´s Worth' playing in the background is everything a movie needs to do to hook me. Cage and Hawke are both terrific.

I was looking forward to seeing this and never got around to it. Unfortunately, Lord of War is a disjointed disappointment. It has its good moments and the acting is fine. But what begins as a quirky and interesting story about an ugly business slowly becomes something ugly. Nicolas Cage is great for this sort of unlikable protagonist but you root for because they're the most logical person in the room.

A great watch that has real-world scenarios involved. One of Cage's not-so-ridiculous movies. It is one of my favorites. I can only wonder where this movie could have gone with a better cast.

Instead it's a rather half-hearted affair in which there seems to be little in the way of character development, depth of plot or even moral message; the result is a film that resembles a cross between The Last King Of Scotland and Sgt. Bilko. The only attempt to give these factors context on the world stage is a line of text at the end of the film that proclaims that the 5 permanent members of …
