Mac and Me (1988) PG A blatant rip-off of E.T. in which a young, wheelchair-bound boy befriends a “Mysterious Alien Creature” (MAC, get it?). This film is one long marketing tool for products as Coca Cola and McDonalds. At one point, there is a dancing scene involving Mac dressed as a teddy bear, a football team and Ronald McDonald (listed in the credits as Himself). To quote an old McDonalds ad, “You deserve a break today," so don’t ever see this film. - See more at: http://lastonetoleavethetheatre.blogspot.com/2013/10/the-counselor.html#sthash.nj13kgnm.dpuf

Blatant rip off of E.T. had no redeeming value at all.

another movie I remembered as a kid which never really had a major impact, but the laughable rubber alien who whistles. Obviously an E.T. as commented before this review. I could remember how the marketing for Coke and McDonald's were heavily instilled. Even the title itself was pretty obvious. The hands above the head with whistling was just ludicrous and plain idiotic. You get unknown artists and a director whose intent was to cash in on a classic by one of the legendary film creators of our time. Mac and Me is a hapless flick that tries too hard to brings out the tears by attempting to touch the heartstrings, but undertones of the film speaks of cash-flow for product placement instead.
