When you think of mis-matched buddy action/comedies from the 80's, 'Midnight Run' should be the first movie that comes to mind. A routine plot setup gives way to a good amount of action and funny mishaps. It's a smooth entertaining ride of what you'd expect. The well drawn and acted lead characters, and their conflicting relationship, remain the driving force behind this vehicle. It's the main reason for the film's popular endurance. Their interactions are genuine, rather than the usual hokey schtick found in this sub-genre. A believable bonding that pays off in a satifying conclusion.

A bail-bondsman Eddie (Joe Pantiolani) hires a bounty hunter, Jack Walsh (Robert De Niro) to bring in an accountant Eddie had foolishly paid the bond for. The accountant, Jonathon “The Duke” Mardukas (Charles Grodin) is on the run from both the cops and the mob, having embezzled millions of dollars from a Mafia mobster Jimmy Serano (Dennis Farina). Jack now has to bring him back, and he has a week to do it in.If Walsh fails to bring Jonathan in within a few days, Eddie will be out of business. Sensing the moment, Walsh demands $100,000 for his troubles and Eddie reluctantly agrees but loses his patience with Walsh and brings in another bounty hunter Marvin (A very funny John …

I can't begin to tell you how many times I saw this comedy gem! As for the other reviewers who also love it, YIPPIE! This first-class comedy-thriller features Charles Grodin as an accountant that stole 15 million dollars from the mafia and sends out postcards to them! And when I say first class, Mardukas doesn't like to fly, which begins the comedic relationship between him and Walsh. Robert de Niro is the freelance bounty-hunter who has the tedious task of getting Mardukas ( Grodin ) back to L.A., because his bail bonds guy, played hysterically by Pantoliano, bailed him out-not knowing who he was at the time. To make a long story short, we are met with an adventure that takes us to New York, Kansas, Wyoming, Arizona and California. To sum up where this movie goes: Wait a minute, I'm in …
