Kathy Bates' Oscar win is well deserved in this thriller based on a Stephen King novel.

The only Stephen King adaptation to win an Academy Award, no Shawshank never won one, Kathy Bates is great as Annie Wilkes, James Caan's #1 Fan. This film is creepy, but you pretty much see everything coming. Except for the shooting of the Sheriff, that caught me off guard. This film is good and quite creepy with two great acting performances.

James Caan is not groundbreaking as writer Paul Sheldon, but he makes do with what he's got. Plus, everyone looks like Keanu Reeves standing next to Kathy Bates.
Kathy Bates deservedly won the Oscar for Annie Wilkes, because she is the only real character from the book where I could say: Yes, …

Misery is without a doubt one of the best horro films of the 90's, and in my opinion, Stephen King's third best adaptation into a movie behind Shawshank Redemption and Dolores Claibourne. This is TRUE horror, there's no monsters, no mega special effects, just Kathy Bates who is truly made the big time as one of the scariest villains in horror movie history. It's about a man named Paul Sheldon, he's an author, made incredibly famous by his popular books, specially his series called "Misery", the books are apparently about a woman in the old days who goes through heavy times in her life and he shares her pain and strength with the readers. When he finishes his last Misery book, he decides to celebrate and is heading back for his daughter's birthday, but he gets caught in a horrible …
