Enjoyable if lightweight naval comedy set on a cargo ship during WWII. The presence of Henry Fonda and James Cagney adds dramatic credibility and Jack Lemmon supplies the comic relief, but it's a little inconsequential.

A good movie set on a ship

Mister Roberts is a good film about a ship in world war 2 that is far away from the action. It effectively shows the politics between the men, the officers and the captain. A funny film but also effective in its drama too. It balances both properly with keeping the comedy and making so the drama is not out of place. The show has a few jokes that are more of stupid than funny but on a whole it is a good movie. I also like the fact that it does not have any of the cliched ship scenes like fighting back a storm I hate those scenes. It instead sticks to the characters who are good although all the men are more of a group rather than separate characters.
