Jet Li vs. himself, Statham present, worm holes, sounds interesting. Gabriel YuLaw (Jet Li) the criminal escapes while the other good version, Gabe Law works for the police. The evil version tries to kill the remaining version to have godlike powers. Screenplay and soundtrack were decent. It was baffling how Gabe never shed a tear after his wife (TK) (Carla Gugino) gets killed. If only Li showed more emotion and the direction were better. It was nice seeing Statham though his role is somewhat reserved while the effects somewhat cartoonish while emulating the style of The Matrix. Action sequences were worth watching. The One has an interesting plot, mediocre acting which may fulfill some action fanatics pallet.

The sci-fi and action are done well. One of Jet-Li's better American films.

A fun movie that I pop in once in a while. Yes it is very dumb and badly acted, but the concept is what I enjoy most and Jet Li kicks some serious ass. Hardcore action fans who only love action will like this movie. Not bad.

A former agent who policed the various different universes finds that killing the other versions of himself increases his own abilities and so sets out to murder them all and become a super being. On paper, this interesting alternate reality premise and the idea of two Jet Lis battling each other sounds great, but the workmanlike direction and unimaginative plot turns it into an unrelenting exercise in mediocrity. Essentially a shoddy Matrix clone, the action sequences are clumsy and unexciting and the cast struggle with their cardboard cut out characters, especially Jason Statham who is saddled with a wholly unconvincing American accent. This kind of meat and potatoes generic sci fi flick should be left to keeping the likes of Mark Dacascos in leather trousers; like all of the other …

"Yulaw" (Jet Li) is a former "MultiVerse Authority (MVA)" officer who became drunk with power when he realized that when one of his parallel counterparts in alternate universes, their energy is distributed to thier counterparts in the parallel universes. Because of this discovery, he has become a mass murderer with super strength and agility. His victims are his parallel counterparts, each living a variation of his life.

After being sentenced to life in the "Hades Universe" for murdering 123 of 124 parallel universe counterparts, he escapes and uses the technology the "MVA" uses to send prisoners to the "Hades Universe" to hunt down his surviving parallel counterpart, a Los Angeles County Sheriff named "George Law" (also played by Li).

Now, "Law" has to clear his name when …
