Plot: In a post apocalyptic future where the United States has been decimated, civilization is reduced to small isolated town pockets and a ruthless dictator uses his army to terrorize the small towns, a lone drifter is captured and forced into service for this militia but escapes. Faced with the prospect of dying of starvation or of the elements he dons a old Postman uniform he found on a corpse and cons his way into a small town to get some food and shelter under the pretense of being a representative of a "Restored United States". But what little does he know that he is about to become a symbol of hope and inspiration that will change the fate of the entire country. -- Epic Fan

Three solid hours of a flag-waving Kevin Costner at his least bankable, a smattering of weak action and ermm...mail delivery. If the sound of that appeals then I suggest electro-shock therapy and heavy medication. Worse than Waterworld.

Best and Worst of a Cult Sci Fi Film

The Postman is kind of a bizarre science fiction movie. It is one of the most unique Science Fiction movies; the characters, ideas, events, and plot are entirely unique to this film. I won't lie; I hate Kevin Costner (his acting is pretty bad through out the movie) but Will Patton does a great performance for the main antagonist General Bethlehem. The movie is set in the future where a group of militants overthrow the United States government and take control. Kevin Costner plays a wondering vagrant who takes on the role of a postman and creates morale for rebuilding the United States and fighting the militants. There is even a random minor character role for Tom Petty. The battle scenes in this movie are really cool and it is very politically charged. The movie has cool parts and really …

Checking out Field of Dreams ON Deman. Reminded me of this movie. I haven't seen this for 13 years. I hope it ages as good as Waterworld (amazing movie).
